Great views and excellent wines from the Eckes winery in Wallhausen. Anyone wanting to sample the wine treasure will need a credit card and ID!

Great! If your water bottle is empty, you can use your credit card to buy a bottle of sparkling water or cola. The wine is also delicious (€8 per bottle. Without ID, your liver will be dry, though). However, this strong thirst quencher can impair your ability to drive, so it's more suitable for hikers!

A wonderful, somewhat steep paved vineyard path leads above the outdoor pool in Wallhausen (turn off at Hergenfeld and immediately left) directly to the edge of the Soonwald forest and continues via Schöneberg Neupfälzer Straße and Schöneberger Höhe to the Forest Adventure Center and the Opel forester's lodge. Here, you can either turn off onto one of the forest paths or follow the country road to Tiergartenstraße. Then, to the right, you'll find the Col de Schanzerkopf, to the left, the Gräfenbacher Hütte (historic blast furnace) and on to Münchwald or the road to Kreershäuschen, Alteburg, and Gemünden. Since last year, there's a wine dispenser 300 meters below the shelter on the Ketzeberg. It also stocks sparkling water, cola, and, as a top-notch product, a very tasty dry Pinot Gris. Payment is by debit card. You can only get your blood alcohol level with ID, so don't forget your ID!
