This is a stop on the European "Star Trail," which marks medieval cultural monuments along the Way of St. James from Palatinate/Saarland/Alsace/Lorraine with stone scallop shells. At this church, the scallop shell is located at the bottom right of the last access staircase to the church entrance; a corresponding (red) information board is located further down the staircase. The fortified church of St. Martin with its castle-like fortifications is a great special feature - not only in the Palatinate, I think. As a complement to Andi's tip: "Among the five bells in the bell tower, one of the oldest bells in the Palatinate still rings today, dating from around 1330."
