The Energiehuis is a beloved venue and one of the most important and dynamic venues in South Holland. This former power station boasts no fewer than three level-floor theater and concert halls and three pop venues, eleven well-equipped rehearsal spaces for bands, and 30 dance studios, workshops, and classrooms. Open from early morning until late at night, it's a place where you can spark and celebrate your imagination and creativity. The Energiehuis is a robust building where strong cultural brands operate and program the venues. They regularly collaborate on programming at the Energiehuis, such as during the annual Dordrecht Cultural Night.

Nestled in the heart of the vegetable garden, housed in the former pump house, lies Villa Augustus's restaurant. Open all day, seven days a week, it seats 200 guests. The restaurant is the perfect blend of gardener and chef: from early spring to late winter, the Dutch season is visible and ready to harvest in the garden. It's inspiring for both. All vegetables, fruits, and herbs are sent to the chefs immediately after harvest. From the open kitchen, the heart of the restaurant, they prepare them as deliciously (and beautifully) as possible. The menu features a limited number of dishes, some of which change every two months. Organic or otherwise sustainably produced ingredients are used as much as possible. Locally sourced ingredients are preferred, but beautiful ingredients from elsewhere in Europe are also an option. The Villa Augustus hotel is located in the former water tower. Both the walled garden and the vegetable garden are worth a visit.

From 300m away the bridge looks like a whale fin

The Wantij is a waterway in the Dutch province of South Holland, approximately from the Biesbosch near the Merwede to Dordrecht. This water divides the Island of Dordrecht in two. The Wantij owes its name to the large tidal differences that could still occur here, despite its inland location. The Maas and the Waal traditionally meet near Dordrecht, and these large rivers drastically influence the level in the narrow Wantij. Moreover, until the closure of the Haringvliet, the Biesbosch was under the direct influence of the North Sea tide. The influence of tides is still noticeable; in the first part of the Sliedrechtse Biesbosch the difference is about seventy centimeters. The tidal current can reach up to about four kilometers per hour. The Wantij has often served as a border in the past, for example between the city of Dordrecht and the guild of Dubbeldam on the one hand and the manor of Huis te Merwede on the other. Until 1970 it still largely formed the border with the southern part of Sliedrecht. Of all the Dordrecht city districts, only one, De Staart, is located north of the Wantij. National highway 3 (the N3) crosses the river east of Dordrecht via the Wantij Bridge. Even further east there is a railway bridge and a bicycle bridge. To the north is also the drinking water reservoir "De Rug" of drinking water company Evides, water is only taken from the Wantij in emergencies.
