Beautiful cycle path, impressive weir.

Hoek van Holland is a coastal town in South Holland, located on the northern bank of the Nieuwe Waterweg where it reaches the North Sea. Hoek van Holland is a former sub-municipality of the municipality of Rotterdam, but is located approximately 25 kilometers west of the city of Rotterdam.

We visited the great beach of Hoek van Holland during our Christmas holiday in the Netherlands. Hoek van Holland is a district of Rotterdam, but has retained the character of a small coastal town and seaside resort. It is located in South Holland at the main mouth of the Rhine into the North Sea.

Wonderful to overtake a few boats so close to the port of Rotterdam.

The Haringvliet Dam with the Haringvliet locks are hydraulic structures with which the mouth of the Haringvliet in the Netherlands is closed as part of the Delta Works. The entire project consists of 17 locks, a large section of dam and a ship lock, and was the sixth project within the Delta Works.

Lookout tower with a great view, in good weather you can see as far as Hoek van Holland.

Goedereede is definitely worth a visit! Goedereede is a historic city with many special features. For example, it received city rights in 1312, the only Dutch pope lived here and the city was an important transit port for Porto during the Roman Empire.
