Anyone visiting South Holland cannot miss a visit to the windmills of Kinderdijk. Admission to the site is free, but the tour of the windmills is not. You can also see all the sights in one go by purchasing a combination ticket. This also includes a boat trip along the canals. Unlike the windmills of Zannse Schans, the windmills of Kinderdijk have retained their authenticity. They don't appear kitschy or tourist-oriented at all, and they aren't overcrowded. Incidentally, there are now a limited number of parking spaces in front of the entrance. The cost is just under €10 per day! There is also a shuttle bus to the nearest village, which costs the same amount, including the parking fee.

The Haastrecht Hefbrug is a striking, manually operated drawbridge over the Hollandse IJssel River, built in 1883 to replace a ferry. It connects the center of Haastrecht with the Stein district and has become a historical and cultural icon. The bridge opens only a few times a day and sometimes causes waiting times for recreational boaters.

Gouda's town hall, built between 1448 and 1459, is one of the oldest Gothic town halls in the Netherlands. It stands in the center of the Markt square and formerly served as the town hall, courthouse, and market hall. Today, it primarily serves as a wedding and events venue. Currently undergoing renovations, it will have a new, broader public function starting in 2027.

Cycling on a racing bike is only really fun on weekdays or when the weather is not so good.
