The bridge is currently not passable: Information from the train to the Lindaunisbrücke: The bridge has been closed to passers-by since March 6, 2023. In the period that follows, we dismantle the folding part and set up the temporary bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. It is planned to complete this work in Dec. 2023. The monument protection for the 1924 bascule bridge, on which cars and trains shared a lane, was lifted. This made the bridge 99 years old. The new building is in the same place.

The bridge always opens at a quarter to. Can be found beautiful (looks impressive, you can take photos) or not (long lines of cars and bikes) The small pedestrian zone is definitely worth a visit!

The herring fence is one of the landmarks of the city of Kappeln. It was built in the 15th century and is therefore over 500 years old. In Europe it is considered to be the last witness of an earlier common fishing method. Left the old fence ... right the restored fence.

In summer, from April 1st to October 31st, it opens every hour from 5:45 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. In winter, from November 1st to March 31st, it opens every hour from 7:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. A little hint: the bridge opens once an hour at 45. Say around 11:45 am, 12:45 pm, 1:45 pm and so on.

The Schleiperle in Arnis offers delicious small dishes, a beautiful ambience and a great view of the Schlei. Wednesday is a day of rest, otherwise it is always worth a bike trip!

Arnis is absolutely worth seeing. A nice hike from here to Kappeln mostly along the loop is also recommended. But the fish restaurants on the fjord are particularly great. Definitely try matjes, no matter what type of serving! 🐟
