The Saxon post milepost near Schwosdorf is a so-called quarter milestone.

The partially broken concrete surface doesn't make the terrain any better. However, it does make for an interesting challenge on a mountain bike. With a "normal" bike, you should be careful that the material doesn't suffer too much.

Looking up Wallstraße from Bautzner Straße, you can see the mighty Monks' Wall, which protected the grounds of the former Franciscan monastery to the north and east, from afar. After 1507, the new city wall was built from granite rubble by the city and the monks. The end of Kamenz's city wall finally came in the 19th century, when it was recognized that the walls no longer provided serious protection against modern weapons of war. The 40-meter-high tower is visible from afar and dominates the city's skyline. Yet one thing is clear: the secular building is not intended to overshadow the sacred main church. Amidst the red of the town hall, the golden clock immediately catches the eye. Likewise, the decorative coat of arms of the city of Kamenz, in the form of a relief coat of arms beneath the clock. Directly above the entrance is a counter commemorating the city's 800th anniversary. Starting at 800 on August 22, 2022, it counted backward 800 days to the beginning of the anniversary year on January 1, 2025, and has been counting upwards ever since.
