The Bautzen Hammer Mill was built in 1493 by the city of Bautzen on the Spree River as a wire mill, i.e., for the production of wire using wire drawing machines. In 1740, the mill was expanded to include an iron hammer mill. Today, it is located north of the old town on the border of the Seidau district and serves as a flour mill, oil mill, and mustard mill. The city center, or Nutřkowne město in Upper Sorbian, is a district of Bautzen, consisting of the historic old town and the city center. It is the historical nucleus of the city and the center of urban commerce and cultural life, and has a population of over 5,000. Large parts of it are protected as cultural monuments. The city center includes both the historic old town within the inner city walls, with multi-story buildings predominantly dating from the 15th to 18th centuries, and the so-called inner city between the inner and outer city walls. Access to the dam from the B 156 with parking. From here, you can walk to the beach or circumnavigate the dam on foot or by bike. Cyclists who would like to continue their journey further can continue from the circumnavigate route to Bautzen or the surrounding area, for example, towards the Malschwitz Ponds, and then return here. The cycle paths are very well developed and signposted.

A huge stone block dominates this grave. The inscription can still be seen quite clearly, although some of the weathering has already begun. The information on the plaque at the grave is listed here for the sake of completeness: Wilhelm von Hanau (1836-1902) A son of Elector Friedrich Wilhelm I of Hesse-Kassel He married Elisabeth of Lippe-Weißenfeld in 1890 as his second wife In 1903, Frau von Hanau bought the Drehsa manor, had this forest grave built (completed in 1911) and had her deceased husband transferred from Horzowitz/Bohemia and buried here.

As one of the seven bastions of the inner city fortifications, it was built in 1324 as a rectangular tower. Since 1433 it has been connected to the Franciscan monastery by a corridor over Heringstrasse. This connecting corridor, which was demolished in 1563, allowed the bastion to be defended by monks in the event of war. Around 1741, a doorway to Mühltorgasse was created for the pastor's apartment, which existed in the bastion until around 1800. In 1813, the tower served as a military hospital. The tower was completely rebuilt from 1868 to 1871 and in 1905. Today, the bastion is a residential building and also a meeting place for the young community of St. Michael.
