The Wümme is a 121-kilometer-long river in northern Germany that flows through the federal states of Lower Saxony and Bremen. Its source is in the Lüneburg Heath, and it eventually flows into the Lesum, which in turn flows into the Weser. The Wümme partially marks the border between Lower Saxony and Bremen and is the main tributary of the Lesum. Together with the Lesum, the Wümme reaches a total length of 131.2 kilometers. The Wümme flows through several towns and villages, including Lauenbrück, Scheeßel, Rotenburg an der Wümme, Ottersberg, Fischerhude, Lilienthal and Bremen. It is known for its clean water quality and the picturesque landscapes along its course, which are characterized by wide meadows and floodplains.

It's worth taking a detour beforehand... the first escape from the main road to the small Hamme wooden bridge, from which on May 1st boys jump from the railing into the Hamme... and only then do they realise how cold the Hamme still is ;-)

Mostly asphalted road, but also short sections with concrete construction where things are a little bumpier. Often very crowded when the weather is good. Ambitious racing cyclists should then postpone their rides to the evening hours. You don't drive because of braking. ;)

Definitely awesome! Definitely not the Wümme. And you have to push because it is very slippery when the wood of the bridge is wet, which you can't necessarily see directly. Lying there means a very long, uncontrolled “sliding game” with a painful end. I've heard... ;-)
