The transporter bridge Osten-Hemmoor is a 1909 commissioned transporter bridge in the district of Cuxhaven, which crosses the Oste between Osten and Hemmoor. The ferry has been protected as a technical cultural monument since 1974 and is now part of the German ferry route tourist route

Oh, these dyke paths behind the dyke can be quite long-winded... for a change it's "up on the dyke", otherwise after the umpteenth beautiful house with a cottage garden you'll just be out of breath...

From the bridge you have a wonderful view of the transporter bridge. Very suitable as a starting or finishing point for circular tours.

Arrived at the ferry, 2 women are waiting for the crossing, nothing happens A sign says among other things: trips from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. After waiting for half an hour, I drive over the bridge to the other side. When I get here, the ferry is supposed to be heading off to the other side. Note from the driver: If nothing happens, call over to the other side! Please remember!

About ten kilometers north of Bremervörde, the Oste meanders through a gentle geest landscape. Far away from large settlements and traffic, the river valley is ideal for hiking. The ferry in Graepel fits in with this. When passengers on the west bank, across from the “Zum Osteblick” inn, ring the bell, the innkeeper and ferryman Stefan Plate becomes active and puts passengers, bicycles and sometimes a car across the river. This happens just as gently as it is noiseless: the prahm, built around 1918, is pulled over the water by hand with the help of a chain anchored in the ground.

Great bike path (paved) from Großenwörden to the east. Wonderful thatched roof houses. Paved bike path from east to Oberndorf, barely good.
