Elsfleth is a small, nice town on the Hunte. Fish is sold at the harbor on Sundays. If you want to go to the other side of the Hunte, you have to use the drawbridge about 1km further north. But this only happens on the hour.

Beautiful place with a great view of the Hunte, there are many benches to relax on.

Elsfleth is one of the older places on the Lower Weser, first mentioned in documents around 1220. However, parts of today's urban area were settled long before that. In his geography, Claudius Ptolemy mentions a place called Tecelia (Greek: Tekelia) in northern Germania, which, among other things, with which today's Zetel was identified in the Friesland district. However, a mathematical transformation of the ancient coordinates gives Tecelia a location of 8° 27′ N 53° 23′ E, which corresponds to the location of Elsfleth-Hogenkamp. At Hogenkamp, one of several Germanic settlement sites from the Roman Empire on the Lower Weser was found in a convenient location near the mouth of the Hunte, which was used until the 6th century. The exact time when medieval Elsfleth was founded is unknown. Bishop Ansgar of Bremen is said to have founded the town's first church as early as 860.

Very inviting place to take a rest. There is plenty of seating and there is also a toilet. The food looks fresh and delicious. A rest is worthwhile.
