Beautiful cycle path (on the top of the dyke or on a path behind it that is a little more sheltered from the wind). From the dyke you have a wonderful view over the Elbe valley - meadows as far as the eye can see and the Elbe glittering in between.

Experience nature at its purest, a truly great experience, a dreamlike river landscape! The Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve is a cycling region with a particularly well-developed cycle path infrastructure. The Elbe Cycle Path has been Germany's most popular long-distance cycle path for years. The cycle junction signposting opens up around 1000 km of cycle paths in the biosphere reserve and neighboring regions.

A truly worthwhile destination for a tour or a detour off the main route. A very pretty and interesting town with several sights. Wittenberge is located directly on the Elbe River and is considered a bike-friendly town with good infrastructure for cyclists. As a stopover on the Elbe Cycle Route, it offers not only well-developed cycle paths and a scenic riverside promenade, but also good connections to railway lines to Berlin and Hamburg – ideal for cyclists. The harbor promenade is particularly attractive, with views of the Elbe, modern seating, and direct access to the water. Here you'll also find the restored Old Oil Mill with its striking clock tower, now a hotel and entertainment center with restaurants, a climbing wall, and an event venue. Other sights include the Culture and Festival Hall, the "Alte Burg" City Museum, Art Nouveau villas in the city center, and the Railway Park with historic locomotive technology. The city center is easily accessible, offers numerous opportunities for refreshments, and is ideal for a break or an overnight stay on a bike tour along the Elbe.

The "Wittenberge Oil Mill" is a listed building in the town of Wittenberge on the Elbe. The building complex, consisting of the administration building, the mill's main body, workshops and storage facilities, was built in the middle of the 19th century to produce crude oil. Oil production was abandoned following German reunification in 1991. A company then took over the use of the buildings and set up the "Zur Alten Ölmühle" hotel in them. A restaurant and a brewery are attached. Delicious beer and great service!
