The Pritzwalker Bismarck Tower is one of approximately 160 towers still standing today, built in memory of Chancellor Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898). It is the only one in the Prignitz region. The Stift zum Heiligengrabe Monastery, a former Cistercian monastery, is the only almost completely preserved monastery in Brandenburg that has been in continuous use since its founding. In 1998, it was designated a cultural monument of national importance. Today, the monastery serves as a meeting place, a cultural center, and a spiritual center. A wide variety of events take place here: devotions, concerts, conferences, retreats, and seminars of various kinds, from bread baking to wild herb weekends, to writing and ceramics courses. The fashion museum in Meyenburg Castle is a little insider tip! A great collection that goes back to the private collection of Josefine Edle von Krepl and lets you immerse yourself in women's fashion from around 1900 to the 1980s. The collector still leads tours of her collection herself!

Expulsion, flight and new beginnings: From 1936 to 1945, DOBIMAR V. KAMEKE was the head of seed breeding in Streckenthin. On July 20, 1944, he was taken prisoner by Russian troops. He and his colleagues had no way of bringing the valuable potato collection or the seeds to safety for further cultivation. A hastily packed backpack with seeds that was supposed to secure a new beginning was lost during the escape.

Several friends raved about the fashion museum in Meyenburg Castle. During our visit, we were amazed at how many dresses from different periods from 1900 onwards are on display there. It is the former private collection of Josephine Edle von Krepl, a fashion designer from the former GDR, who ran the museum herself from its founding until her 74th birthday. Only about 10% of the collection is shown in the exhibition. We also liked the historical classification and the completion with photos and accessories from the time. We really liked it. Admission 8 euros, photo permission 2 euros. There is also a cute, authentic café with collectible crockery and a registry office in the castle.

The fire disaster of November 1, 1821 reduced the old Pritzwalk and the old town hall to rubble and ashes. The reconstruction of the public buildings took several years. Construction of the town hall did not begin until 1826. The smaller new town hall only partially used the foundations of the previous building. The result was a building of simple form in the style of late classicism. At first, this was only the 28-meter-long main building with a protruding central section. The side buildings and the inner courtyard of the town hall were not built until the middle of the century.

The current building dates from 1826. In 1995, during archaeological research into the town centre, the foundations of the oldest town hall were uncovered in Pritzwalk. The construction period is currently dated to the late 13th and 14th centuries. According to a description from 1744, the building was massive with three vaults one above the other, painted yellow and white. The second floor contained, among other things, the audience chamber, below which was the town hall cellar, and below this a large and small vaulted cellar.
