Windmills have existed in Wanzer since at least 1611. This particular windmill was built in 1805, though originally in Pollitz, 3 km away. It was moved to Wanzer in 1868 and is now maintained by many volunteers. We were lucky enough to witness an interior inspection.

Cumlosen belonged to the Westprignitz district in the province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Perleberg district in the Schwerin district of the GDR from 1952. Cumlosen has been in the Prignitz district of Brandenburg since 1993. In the GDR, Cumlosen was the border crossing point (GÜSt) for shipping traffic between the GDR and the Federal Republic. The former customs port including the border tower now belongs to the Cumlosen boat club. The Wittenberge local branch of the Technical Relief Organization (THW) is located in the remaining buildings.
