New life in historic walls. The Wittenberge oil mill is a listed building on the Elbe. The building complex, consisting of the administration building, the mill structure, workshops and storage facilities, was built in the mid-19th century to produce crude oil. Oil production was abandoned following German reunification in 1991.

The "Wittenberge Oil Mill" is a listed building in the town of Wittenberge on the Elbe. The building complex, consisting of the administration building, the mill's main body, workshops and storage facilities, was built in the middle of the 19th century to produce crude oil. Oil production was abandoned following German reunification in 1991. A company then took over the use of the buildings and set up the "Zur Alten Ölmühle" hotel in them. A restaurant and a brewery are attached. Delicious beer and great service!

The Märkische Ölwerke in Wittenberge on the Elbe were a large-scale operation in the 20th century: up to 1,500 employees produced vegetable oil here. The industrial monument has now been beautifully renovated. There is a café and beach bar, beer garden, restaurant, hotel, a diving school and a high ropes course.

A tower as a diving school is something very special - you can also dive in the ELBE "next to" the river, but here it takes place in a restored BRICK TOWER: The diving tower has even received a special award, the "Diamond Award" from the organization responsible for diving training, SSI (one of the largest diving associations in the world). The tower
as a "dive center" is thus designated as an important location for SSI because it meets the high requirements. Over a hundred divers are trained on site every year. In addition, the diving tower in the oil mill scored extra points with its quality and organization of the training. The FRIEDENSTEICH, located on site in Wittenberge, serves as an open water diving area with its own diving training room at a depth of 10 meters; this combination is unique.
The indoor diving tower is one of the very few in the world where you can dive (learn + practice) all year round at the same temperature (29°C) and in the ambience of an old oil tank.
