The Our is a 96 km long tributary of the Sauer along the border between Belgium and Germany. The Vennbahn crosses the national borders several times in this area. The landscape in the valley of the Our is simply beautiful and you can't get enough of it.

Two old tunnels: one for bats, the other for us :) It's fun to drive through and in summer it's also a nice way to cool off. Right in front of the tunnel there's a nice little viaduct that's no longer in use.

Very impressive how the red brickwork of the remains of the bridge almost protrudes into the cycle path.

Beautiful little river with picturesque views of the surrounding area.

In the area of Hemmeres, the now disused Vennbahn ran for a length of 1134 m on the east side of the Our. The Vennbahn's infrastructure was badly damaged in the Second World War, including when the Our Valley Viaduct north of Hemmeres was blown up by German troops on September 27, 1944. When the town was reintegrated into Germany in 1958[2], the railway line in the Hemmeres area also returned to the Federal Republic. -Wikipedia

Great location, definitely worth a visit. If you look closely at the stone you can still see parts of the writing that was once there. Unfortunately the writing is almost illegible due to shrapnel etc.

08.05.24 Bleialf tunnel closed due to construction work. No signage due to diversion. A worker showed us the way towards Prüm: a climb of about 500 m at 8-10%. No one could tell us when the work would be finished. What a pity.

A very scenic section of the Vennbahn and the route has now been completely completed here too and you no longer have to drive the strange loop.
