The selfie point in the region, especially since you can almost get there by car

It couldn’t have been done better

One of the selfie points in the region... easily accessible from the nearby parking lot... a fine steel construction that moves slightly from side to side

The old version of a crossing of the river Prüm at the well-known "Irrel Waterfalls" was a covered (roofed) wooden bridge, which was much more modest than the current construction. The new construction was necessary because the heavy rain disaster of July 2021 devastated large parts of the Eifel and washed away the old bridge here too.

Since the end of September 2023, it has been possible to cross the rapids near Irrel again on dry feet via a suspension rope bridge that is more than 100 metres long. You still get a queasy feeling when you stand on the swaying bridge above the roaring “Irrel Waterfalls”.

The entire area is beautiful, this is one of the highlights

This suspension bridge is definitely worth a visit if you are nearby. A monstrous structure costing €1.1 million that spans the Prüm. In the middle of the bridge there are 2 benches from which the Irrel waterfalls can be easily observed. We were lucky enough to cross on the day of the opening, September 30, 2023.
