The Frankenwarte (Frankenwarte) stands atop the 679-meter-high Hirschhügel (Hirschhügel). The eight-and-a-half-meter-high, round stone tower offers a panoramic view to the northeast, to the edge of the Höllental valley, to Lichtenberg and Bad Steben, and to the west to the hills near Nordhalben. To the south, Geroldsgrün, the 729-meter-high Spitzberg, and the 758-meter-high Schneidberg can be seen, and hidden behind them, the highest peak in the Franconian Forest, the 794-meter-high Döbraberg. To the southeast, the view extends to the Fichtel Mountains. The Frankenwarte was built and is maintained by the Franconian Forest Association. Plans to build an observation tower on the hill existed as early as 1930. However, the Frankenwarte was not inaugurated until August 12, 1951. In 2020, panoramic panels were installed on the parapet of the viewing platform, illustrating the towns and landscape features visible from here.

There used to be a manor and a tower for transmitting messages here. The towers for transmitting messages were u.A. also around the Plassenburg in Kulmbach. Often used as a warning signal of enemy attacks.

Shortly after the village of Döbra (coming from Schwarzenbach a. W.) the road branches off towards Rodeck. After approx. 300 metres, past the sports center, you will reach the large car park for hikers at the "Schöne Aussicht", which is also the car park for the Döbraberg ski and cross-country skiing center in winter. This is carried out on behalf of the municipality of Schwarzenbach a. W. operated by the winter sports club (WSV) Schwarzenbach. The "Döbra" is known to be the highest mountain in the Franconian Forest at almost 800 meters, which is why the snow conditions are usually good in midwinter. The WSV Schwarzenbach am Wald in the person of the first chairman Werner Bayer is always on the go to re-track the trails when there is fresh snow and to keep them in the best condition. The current trail report can be queried at: http://doebra.de/Wintersport/loipe-frame.htm. Three distances: 6 km, 8 km and 15 km are groomed in a classic way. The skating trail extends over 5 km. Most of the time, however, the 8 km trail is prepared for skating.

my home territory. Around the Döbraberg you can cross-country ski in winter on a groomed trail. Otherwise there are many forest and trail paths for biking. The observation tower "Frankenwarte" rises on the almost 680 meter high deer hill. The round stone tower is more than eight meters high, from several viewing hatches you have a wonderful view of the entire area. With good visibility you can see as far as the Fichtelgebirge.
