The Lübeck Trade was an important trade route in the Middle Ages that connected the cities of Lübeck and Hamburg. Several memorial stones along this route commemorate its historical importance.

You can hike along here very relaxed, but you should expect mosquitoes in summer and be prepared accordingly.

At 76.8 meters, the Boxberg is not the highest elevation in the Aukrug Nature Park, but it is one of the few moraine peaks in central Holstein that deserves the name "mountain." The Itzespitze, at 83.4 meters, is even higher than the Boxberg. Today, only a few beech trees grow on the grounds of the Boxberg recreational forest. One of the loveliest hiking routes in the Aukrug Nature Park is without a doubt a long walk from the Boxberg via forest huts along the ponds. The circuit combines a route over the Boxberg with the signposted hiking trail 17. You can expect an eventful hike through lively nature, sights, history and magnificent views. Was collecting mushrooms, the pond landscape is pure nature. Will go again in the morning when the fog rises. We have such beautiful nature right on our doorstep.
