The Kemtau Rock is a 592 meter high mountain in Gelenau/Erzgeb. in the Saxon Erzgebirge district. It is named after the Burkhardtsdorf district of Kemtau, which is north of the rock. The hill is located in the Ore Mountains south of Chemnitz on the boundary between Kemtau and Gelenau/Erzgeb. Some rocks rise near the highest point. The summit is forested. The Eisenstraße, a medieval carter's route, passes south of the hill.

The year was 1878 when the Marienberg branch of the Ore Mountains was founded. One of the founding members, namely Gustav Loose, set up a restaurant in the former hat house "Alte Drei Brüder". This retreat soon became very popular, not least because of the Princess Marien Tower, which had been completed three years previously. Generations of hikers and day trippers have been able to enjoy a magnificent panoramic view here. The Berghaus "Dreibrüderhöhe", as it was called at the time, remained in the hands of the Loose family until 1977. When the house was managed by Gustav Loose, there was also a rarity available. You could buy and enjoy the “GuLo” (Gustav Loose) brand cigars produced in-house. The house was in the hands of Helmut Loose for over 30 years, who then sold it to the Marienberg building management company in 1977.
