With its great location on the water and its historic brick Gothic buildings, Stralsund attracts numerous visitors. The Hanseatic city is the oldest city in Pomerania and is considered the gateway to the island of Rügen. The old town with its magnificent monuments has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002.

Stralsund is a city in the north-east of Germany. It belongs to the Vorpommern region of the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and is the district capital of the Vorpommern-Rügen district. According to state law, Stralsund is known as a Hanseatic city and a large district town.

St. Nicholas Church is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. Admission is not free and costs 4 euros, but it is money well spent.

Just stop and enjoy this view.

This church is located right on the market square in Stralsund. It is the oldest church in the city. I recommend going inside. There is church inventory dating back to the 13th century. For example, a stone baptismal font from 1260 or the oldest astronomical clock in the world from 1394, the mechanics of which are still in their original condition. Admission costs €4 (as of July 2024).
