Well, some sections are already quite broken up by roots (2024). Not good in some places with a racing bike.

The Protestant church in Franzburg is the surviving southern transept arm of the former monastery church of the Cistercian monastery of Neuencamp from the 14th century. The building is the remains of the Cistercian monastery of Neuencamp (mother monastery of Hiddensee). The monastery was dissolved during the Reformation. The Pomeranian dukes had a castle built here from 1587. The castle chapel was built from the remains of the monastery church. During the Thirty Years' War, Franzburg was plundered and destroyed by Wallenstein's troops. Between 1660 and 1678, the remains of the castle were demolished. Only the former castle church has survived. The church in Franzburg is quite impressive. Unfortunately it was closed at the time of my visit. The church originally emerged from a side wing of the Neuenkamp monastery, which was converted into the castle church in the 16th century.

The parish church in Richtenberg is the oldest town parish church on the Rügen mainland. The three-aisled brick building with the fieldstone choir that was built around 1220 to the east was built around 1400 under the influence of the Cistercian monastery of Neuencamp. The square chancel, a Westphalian church building, with a dome vault, shows rich ornamental decorations in the cupola. The church tower was built around 1500. The special features of the church include the late Gothic painting, the magnificent baroque pulpit, votive chandeliers and the architecturally framed memorial plaques for the dead from the first half of the 17th century, including an Easter epitaph for Chr. Dehne from 1630, created after a depiction by the mannerist Bartholomäus Spranger.

Cycle path on the former railway line Stralsund - Tribsees. From December 23, 1900, the route ran from Stralsund in a southwesterly direction to the district town of Franzburg and was extended to Tribsees on June 1, 1901 - now with a total length of 33.7 kilometers. In August 1945, the line was dismantled to pay reparations to the Soviet Union. There was no reconstruction. Only a short stretch in Stralsund remained in operation as a siding.

The parish church under the patronage of St. Nicholas of Myra was built on the highest point of the town, south of the large market square. The square chancel dates back to a mid-13th century construction made of fieldstone and brick. The nave and western church tower were built in the early 15th century. The upper floor of the tower was added later.
