On the German side it is the Saarbach, from the French border the stream is called La Sauer.

I rarely recommend rest stop highlights, but this one is worth it!

A beautiful wooded peak on the border between Germany and France, with a sad history dating back to the war. There are also traces of the Celts and a so-called "sacrificial stone," which is probably more of a geological oddity.

The two impressive rocks are right on the side of the path... use them for a break, then the path climbs steeply up to the Bayrisch Windstein
