Cape Carvoeiro is located on the Peniche Peninsula, in the Leiria district of Portugal. It is a point of great natural beauty, with impressive cliffs and breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean. Furthermore, it houses a historic lighthouse that is an important aid to navigation in the region.

Unfortunately, the water and air parts have been removed. So, just a tool station now (October 2025).

This structure is in an advanced state of degradation due to the erosion of the clay cliff on which it is located, so special care is recommended when visiting.

On the north coast of Peniche, there is a small peninsula with limestone and volcanic breccia, known as Ilhéu da Papoa. This rock formation has a karst shape and is a popular fishing spot, as well as providing beautiful views of the sea.

This viewpoint is located at the top of a more or less steep slope that surrounds the Bolhos valley. On days with good visibility, it is possible to see the Berlengas archipelago and the S. Domingos Reservoir, which supplies water to the region.

Very beautiful route to do by gravel bike or mountain bike.
