Known as Serra da Portela or Serra do Anjo da Guarda, this is a natural viewpoint overlooking the Pousaflores Valley, where the landscape is filled with life and aromas. Wild orchids, rupicolous plants, "cucas" (a type of gourd), wormwood, and the fresh scent of thyme, which wafts away with every step, flourish among the limestone rocks. Here, atop Monte da Ovelha, human presence has left its mark: traditional windmills, a small chapel dedicated to the Guardian Angel, the Stations of the Cross for Good Friday, and initiatives celebrating bread and cornbread. It's also a place made for lingering: sitting at a table, lighting a grill, or simply gazing out.

The Eye of the Thrush is a mysterious spring that gushes from the bowels of the earth, forming a stream that sleeps in the summer. Among ancient mills and vestiges of bygone eras, the water resurfaces from a deep grotto, a natural spectacle of rare beauty.

The Albufeira do Castelo do Bode is a large and spectacular reservoir, created by the dam of the same name on the Zêzere River. It is one of the largest reservoirs in the country and a popular destination for water activities such as swimming, sailing, canoeing and fishing. The surrounding landscape is characterised by green hills, forests and small picturesque villages, such as Dornes, that jut out into the water, creating a scene of great natural beauty. The reservoir is also an important ecosystem, home to several species of birds and fish.

Dornes is a truly enchanting village, a true hidden gem in Portugal, famous for its picturesque location on a peninsula that juts out into the spectacular Albufeira do Castelo do Bode. This large dam and the resulting lake create a breathtaking landscape, and Dornes is one of the most charming spots. The village is dominated by its iconic Pentagonal Tower, a unique medieval fortification that stands majestically offering panoramic views of the water and surrounding hills.

Monte da Ovelha offers a miradouro (lookout) with a breathtaking view of the vastness of the surrounding valleys and mountains. It is an ideal place to enjoy a pristine environment and pure air, with a panorama that captures the essence of the Portuguese rural landscape.

Ansião is known for its tranquility, local traditions and some points of historical and cultural interest, including churches and natural landscapes that invite you to walk and discover.

I only went here once but this is a nice place to go for mountain bikers (and everyone else). It's just a pity some single tracks, especially those going downhill aren't clean because they are really nice, fast and beautiful!
