The Molenheide is a woodland area between Geldrop and Mierlo that, together with the Luchense Heide and the Verste Bos, covers 248 hectares. The area is owned by the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo. The area was once a heathland. Today, it consists of young pine forest. Several fens, including Wolfsven, Galgenven, Molenven, and Lisven, as well as some remaining heathland, have been preserved.

The Lisven is linked to the Molenven by a wetland. It's an area of primarily dry and damp heathland. During certain periods, sheep are used here to maintain the heathland. The sheep's grazing pattern ensures a gradual transition in vegetation. During the flowering season of the herbaceous plants, grazing is suspended. This gives these plants time to flower and produce seed, creating a more species-rich heathland. Currently, the fen is completely dry due to the recent heat.

When it gets warmer (in the summer), this is an ideal place in the shade to rest for a while. Also of course for the rain if you are walking in the rain.

The Strabrechtse Heide nature reserve consists largely of rolling cover sand landscape, with a part of drift sand landscape. The area is characterized by an alternation of dry areas with heath, small drift sands and lowlands with wet heath and fens. In the east of the area lies the Beuven, the largest fen in our country. The surrounding forests of the area consist mainly of Scots pines. On well-maintained paths you can walk to your heart's content through the nature reserve.
