Goldbergsee, a 145-hectare reservoir located between the districts of Neuses and Beiersdorf, is one of Coburg's most popular recreational areas. Originally conceived as a flood control basin, the lake has long since become a favorite destination for walks, hikes, bike rides, and relaxing breaks in nature. In the idyllic surroundings of Coburg, you'll enjoy beautiful views of the majestic Callenberg Castle, perched high on a hill overlooking the lake, and the Glender Wiesen bird sanctuary. Also worth a visit is the Rückerthaus, where the famous poet Friedrich Rückert once spent many happy hours. A highlight for hiking enthusiasts is the 14-kilometer "Coburg Sea" circular trail, which runs along Goldbergsee and offers breathtaking natural scenery. Our Heldburg Forestry District comprises 12 forest districts and is also the southernmost forestry district in the Free State of Thuringia. The Heldburg region, the Gleichberge hills, and the castles of Straufhain and Heldburg are attractive destinations for forest visitors. Our district office in Heldburg is also worth seeing – a building steeped in forestry history. Our forestry district is characterized by extensive oak forests in the south – which is why the oak is the "characteristic tree species" of our district. North of the Werra River, for example around Hildburghausen, coniferous pine and spruce forests predominate, while the "Franconian Threshold" south of the Werra is characterized by beech-rich deciduous forests. Following the trail, actually a hiking trail, you continue towards Ottowind. Starting at the Alexandrinenhütte, the trail is relatively wide and only becomes a single trail in the lower third. The section through the pine forest is particularly enjoyable, with its easy root stairs, although there are very few of them. Overall, the trail is easy to ride, making it a clearly better alternative for mountain bikers.

On May 27, 1906, an observation tower was inaugurated on the summit in honor of Duchess Alexandrine (1820–1904), wife of Duke Ernst II of Coburg.[3][4] The Alexandrine Tower, designed by Max Böhme, fell into disrepair over the following decades due to inadequate maintenance and was demolished in March 1936 due to its dilapidated condition. On July 18, 1936, the Thüringerwald-Verein Coburg e.V. inaugurated the Alexandrine Hut on the same site, built partly using stones from the former tower. For over 80 years, the association has operated the hut on a voluntary basis and continuously modernizes it. Source: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandrinenh%C3%BCtte

The Alexandrinenhütte is a hut belonging to the Thüringerwald-Verein Coburg e. V. (Thuringian Forest Association Coburg). It is located on the Sennigshöhe (523 m above sea level), one of the highest points in the Coburg district, near the Mirsdorf district of the Meeder municipality in Upper Franconia (Bavaria). It serves as a popular hiking rest stop and, due to its elevation, is considered the highest beer garden in the Coburg region. Source: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexandrinenh%C3%BCtte

On the side of the town hall is the carillon, consisting of fifteen bells. These symbolize the 15 districts of Bad Rodach. The carillon symbolizes the unity of the town of Bad Rodach and commemorates the completion of the municipal reform in 1978. This declaration can be found beneath the carillon.
