The lake actually only came into being as a separate body of water with the construction of the "Alter Dam" in 1869. Conveniently, it was then called Castle Lake. Another part further south, artificially separated by a dam, is the castle pond 😊. Unfortunately, the castle that gave it its name no longer exists.

Class monument! Frankfurt Oder is a former member of the Hanseatic League. The harbor crane was manufactured circa 1860 and then restored sometime in the 1990's. He's still in good shape today 👍

The castle lake is located in the district Hohenjesar the community Zeschdorf. A nature trail leads around the lake. The associated castle no longer exists today.
