Clyne Valley Country Park is a 691-acre (280-hectare) area set around the Clyne River that runs into the sea at the Mumbles seafront between Lower Sketty and Blackpill. It is a marvellous green area that covers both sides of the valley in thick woodlands of oak, birch, and beech trees. There are signs of its intensive industrial history dotted within the park, but mainly it is now noted for its extensive network of walking, running, and cycling trails.

Good for novice cyclists

Rough ground on the cycle path, would recommend gravel bike or more

Llanelli's wetland centre is a vast area of ponds, marshes and enclosures. There's plenty of amazing birdwatching to be had here, from native herons to Caribbean flamingoes calling the centre home. The Millennium Coastal Path cycle and hiking route goes past the centre and it's easy to visit. This pillbox is at the southwest end of a bridge that crosses the dismantled railway that has become Clyne Valley cycle path. The pillbox defends the bridge and the top of a set of steps that lead from bridge down into the railway cutting. You can get into it as well

Classic salt marsh landscape. Liable to flooding so check tides. Fabulous wildflowers including orchids. Great for bird watching as well. Flat and fast if you haven't got a headwind. If you do there is no respite. Two nice pubs in Llanrhidian, though.
