Legend has it that three women were walled up alive in the sanctuary of Somazzo to preserve their fidelity to their spouses. Passing carters from Riva San Vitale managed to quench their thirst using their hats and sticks to reach small windows behind which they were locked. In thanks, the three women promised that the people of Riva would never lack water. Since that day, the people of Riva have been going to the sanctuary in procession during times of drought.

The Lanza torrent is a watercourse that originates on the southern slope of Monte San Giorgio, in the Canton of Ticino, and flows into the Olona river; it takes on various names depending on the territories it crosses.

The chapel of Santa Margherita in campo is located a stone's throw from the Italian border in the open countryside. It probably belonged to the monasteries of Como along with other assets. It has been documented since 1437, but almost certainly dates back to the Romanesque era (10th-12th century)
