Once you arrive, a large meadow opens up where you can have a picnic, with a children's playground and a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Just behind the refuge, there's also a deer enclosure. The refuge is currently closed.

It is a crossing point for several hiking trails, including CAI 547, which connects Peia to Monticelli and continues towards Malga Lunga and the summit of Monte Sparavera.
