After a major town fire in 1702, the gate was rebuilt with some structural modifications. From 1976 to 1991, it housed the Tribsees Local History Museum (a small local history museum), which later moved to the Stone Gate and finally to another building in 2007.

Here in my photo there was a sign pointing to an instrument maker in the old rectory. A tuba was standing on top. The huge church is impressive even from afar with its high roof and tower. It was built in the 13th century and completed in the 14th century. It is one of the largest village churches in Germany. It has attractive furnishings. The last renovation was a good 100 years ago. Unfortunately, the train departure time in Stralsund did not allow for a thorough inspection. That is definitely on the list for the next bike tour!

Good to know, but I wouldn't call it a highlight, as you can find old cobblestone streets like this in this region from time to time. Luckily, it's usually quite easy to ride on the already worn-out sides. I would definitely avoid it if you have a racing bike or something similar.

Beautiful, 800-year-old church. The interior was renovated in 1805 and has been completely preserved in its original state.

The Brandshagen church is one of the largest and most beautiful village churches in Western Pomerania. You can see this from afar when you drive past on the B96a, but you can also visit it; it is usually open daily from May to October. In 2002, the Brandshagen St. Mary's Church turned 777 years old and was given two new bells to mark the occasion.
