Although small, it is the highest of all the lakes on the Cardeto plateau. Its three larger siblings (Lago Alto, Lago di Mezzo, and Lago Basso del Cardeto) are perennial and larger, but this small lake is nonetheless fascinating and rich in biodiversity, with aquatic plants, dragonflies, and frogs.

A typical Alpine lake with clear water that reflects colors depending on the weather. The trail to reach it is easy and safe. Given the wide open spaces surrounding it, it's an excellent place to stop.

Visited in the end of May, the path was partly covered with snow and barely visible. Didn't risk going further to Cima Benfit, but even then, the experience and views are well worth it.
