History and technical details
In 1638 the old rather dilapidated mill was replaced by a new one.
For the rebuilding, use was made of the cutlery that had been made three years earlier and that was used to rebuild the Kleine Wielmolen.
These mills have therefore been each other's image.

The lowest tenderer for the rebuilding of the Scheiwijkse Molen was Joost Eversen from Gorinchem. However, it turned out that it was not financially wealthy enough to purchase the necessary wood and never turned out to have built a mill before. The polder board withdrew the award. Construction was privately accepted by Marten Martenszn. de Graeff and his brother Cornelis for f 3.815. De Kleine Wielmolen was also built by these mill makers three years earlier.
