The castle Wildenstein is located about 200 meters above the Danube on a mountain promontory. The first castle was probably built around 1000, but today's buildings are from the middle of the 16th century. Today, there is a youth hostel in the castle, and there are regular events such as medieval and artisan markets.

A very good and originally preserved castle. Should not be missed when in the area.
The castle tavern in the courtyard is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 5pm.

The Jugendherberge Burg Wildenstein is an ideal location for hikes in the Upper Danube Valley.

The castle Wildenstein in its today's form was built 1514 to 1554 by rooms of Godfried Werner from a predecessor building as a fortress plant. The well preserved castle was never conquered and today is a much visited youth hostel.

It was clear to me that you can not fully visit this castle, because I knew that the castle is home to a youth hostel. All the more I was pleased that for hikers who do not stay in the JuHe, a castle tavern is ready (opening hours note). Where the menu at the entrance of the bailey does not reveal everything ...

From the castle to the castle playground with barbecue there is a small course in the woods with hidden wooden animals. Great for kids.

very nicely located youth hostel with its own flair; the castle courtyard and the castle tavern are also open to the public for non-hostel guests; as hostel guests you can take tours of the castle; It gets really cozy in the evening when the day tourists are gone.

The castle courtyard and the castle tavern are also open to the public for non-hostel guests; It gets really nice in the evening when the day tourists are gone, it is slowly getting dark and the castle courtyard is illuminated.

It's best to combine it with your walk through the nearby nature trail. The view of the valley is of course mega.
