Grain was probably ground in the "Turm-Holländer" type building since 1846. A good 50 years later, the mill lost its importance due to more powerful competition: production was stopped in 1906, the building fell into disrepair and was "closed" in 1961. But since 2005, the Oberaussem district forum has been involved in the renovation, and in 2012 it handed over the project to a specially founded association. The walls have been renovated, lattice windows and doors have been installed, and preparations have been made for the local history museum. And the club is inspired by the thought that the tower could soon have wings again.

In relation to the number mentioned here, the 200th anniversary was celebrated in 2013. However, the year of construction is more likely, since the main teacher Josef Dürbaum named this year as year of construction in his village chronicle published in 1912. During research, a local historian came across an official gazette dated December 22, 1845, in which the Mayor of Paffendorf made public the construction intentions of the miller Baumann. So the year of construction assumed so far seems to be wrong, rather it could be the year of birth of the builder.
