However not public, private property of the stonemason / sculptor Henry Sawade and Sabine Swintek
One of the most authentic Fontaneorte in the state of Brandenburg is the village of Uetz in the north of Potsdam. Bornstedt, Marquardt, Uetz and Paretz were part of Theodor Fontane's travel route as if on a string of pearls. He visited the places several times around 1865.

Strange that there is a ferry house without water, but a bridge was built until 1905, the ferryman put here over the Wublitz, which was 100m wide. The king was also one of his customers, which is why he commissioned Persius to build an appropriate ferry house. Inside there was even a tea room for the king. When the highway was built on a dam in the mid-1930s, the Wublitz was cut off and only a swampy area remained. The ferry house survived and was extensively restored on a private initiative.

In 1834, the Ferry and Fisherman's House in Uetz was built according to plans by Ludwig Persius as his first work of half-timbered architecture in the Swiss style on the 100-meter-wide Wublitz River. Previously, only thatched houses were built here. In addition to the fisherman's living room, there was even a tearoom for King Frederick William III. Since the Wublitz River silted up after the construction of the motorway in the 1930s, the Ferry and Fisherman's House is now, quite literally, on dry land.
