I have to say, the ideas that were implemented there in such a sensational way completely blew me away. I think the pictures to the right and left of the altar alone are absolutely worth seeing. Just go in and let yourself be surprised!

The Gottesackerkirche is the oldest church building in Creuzburg and is located outside the city wall.
In the 11th century it was built as St. Mary's Church (fortified church).
From 1525 onwards the church fell into disrepair.
After a renovation in 1621, the church was destroyed by fire in 1634 during the Thirty Years' War. It was only rebuilt in 1710, but without a tower and without a chancel.
It was the parish's place of worship until 1981. The surrounding cemetery was used until the end of the 19th century; individual gravestones are still present here.

Since 2017, the Gottesackerkirche has hosted a nature park exhibition and provides information and tips for activities even off the hiking trail.
