The lock Leerstetten was built in the period from 1974 to 1980 as part of the construction of the federal waterway Main-Danube Canal and put into operation on 27 September 1985. It is designed as a savings lock with three savings basins south of the lock basin. As with the sluices in Hilpoltstein and Eckersmühlen, the Schleusungs drop is 24.67 meters and thus has the largest drop height ever built in Germany. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schleuse_Leerstetten

From here you can also start well tours, well signposted (eg Schwanstettener memorial stone path or bike paths to Brombachsee and Rothsee) and a few car parking facilities.
