Not much indicates the great past as one of the oldest places of Christian faith, not even a sign. When the parish was connected to Rayigart in 1706, the 11th century church on the Schönenberg fell into disrepair, and was also a pilgrimage church until 1800. From 1817, no more services were held on the Schönenberg.Today only the old cemetery remains and invites hikers to linger. In the 18th century there were also hermits on the Schönenberg. But in 1795, after about 100 years of existence, the Hermitage was dissolved. The Schönenberger Markt originally had the same significance as the Nunkircher Markt. It was held for the last time in 1877.Since the 900 year celebration (Schönenberg was first mentioned in 1110), an ecumenical service has always been held on the first Saturday in September with the Catholic and Protestant parishes.

The old cemetery inspires humility in me. Nice that the facility is maintained.

A place of tranquility that makes you think, if you allow yourself time to linger. There are wonderful hiking opportunities there.
