Knud "Kunũnguaĸ" Johan Victor Rasmussen (* June 7, 1879 in Ilulissat; † December 21, 1933 in Gentofte) was a Greenlandic-Danish polar explorer, ethnologist and author.

Knud Rasmussen grew up in Greenland and was strongly influenced by the Greenlandic culture of the time. Among other things, he was an excellent dog sled driver. He was nicknamed Kunũnguaĸ ("Little Knud"). Even as a child, his spirit of adventure was awakened when he was told legends about a people living far to the north. When he was 9 years old, Fridtjof Nansen was the first to cross the Greenland ice sheet, which further increased Knud Rasmussen's desire to travel.

At the age of 12 he was sent to Denmark, where he attended the Latin and secondary school in the Copenhagen district of Nørrebro from 1891, but having grown up in Greenland, he did not like school in Denmark. He finished school in 1898 and two years later also took his Philosophicum at the University of Copenhagen, but could not decide on a specialist course of study. However, he showed an interest in opera singing, acting and journalism.
