The main parish church of St. Egid is not only located in the center of the state capital of Klagenfurt in the narrow sense of the word, as it is probably the oldest church in the city, its history is also closely intertwined with the fate of Klagenfurt since the High Middle Ages. Generations have prayed in this church, but generations have also contributed their creative power to the design of this church and made it a central cultural place in Carinthia. The numerous works of contemporary art show that this tradition has continued to this day.
