The three-masted barque Najaden, now a museum ship, is moored at the Nissan Bridge near the castle in Halmstad.
The Najaden was built in 1897. For the first 41 years of its career, the Najaden served as a sail training ship for the Swedish Navy. She is one of the smallest full-rigged ships designed and built as such.
After being decommissioned in the summer of 1938, the Najaden was dismantled and laid up. During World War II, the ship served as a floating accommodation, emergency vehicle, and harbor barrier in the port of Torekov and was initially scheduled to be scrapped there after the war.

Instead, the city of Halmstad received the ship as a donation and, at the instigation of wholesaler Bernhard Aronsson, restored it at the naval shipyard in Karlskrona.
On July 29, 1946, the restored ship arrived in Halmstad amid great public sympathy.
Since 1956, the museum sailing ship has had its permanent berth as a floating tourist attraction and café in the Nissan at the castle quay.

After the Najaden received new masts in 1971/72, a new rig in 1976/77, and a new deck in 1984/85, the Föreningen Najadens Vänner (Föreningen Najadens Vänner) group was founded in 1988 with the goal of further restoring and preserving the ship.
