The Lutherlinde was once built to commemorate the church reformer dr. Martin Luther, who was born on November 10, 1883 400 years ago. The parish Neckartailfingen had decided on this occasion to plant on the hill above Neckartailfingen a lime tree. The bourgeois community had approved the means for acquiring this place and acquired the property for 30 marks. The lime tree was taken from the Neckartailfinger forest and some citizens brought about 30 carriages of earth, so that the tree may stand on good ground.
