One of the most beautiful views of the lake, and the hill is manageable for anyone.

       DESCRIPTION FEATURES
Caslano is located in Malcantone, on the shores of Lake Lugano, overlooked by the mountain of the same name, also called Sassalto. It reaches a height of 500 meters and is largely surrounded by the lake. This peninsula is a very varied landscape because it brings together a remarkable wealth of botanical varieties from all over Ticino in a limited area.

For this reason, the area was placed under federal protection. The area between Lugano and Ponte Tresa is also interesting from a geological point of view, because very different types of rock from different ages can be seen here. The recommended walk follows a marked path with around fifteen explanatory panels. Along the path you can see linden trees, elms, locust trees, cherry trees, chestnuts, ash trees, maples and numerous bushes, including hazelnuts and hawthorns. 600 plant species and 150 mosses have been identified on the mountain.

In fact, the special location on the southern edge of the Alps, the climate characterized by mild winters, sunny summers, rainfall in spring and autumn, favor a diverse flora, in close coexistence with trees, bushes and undergrowth; There are also some exotic species. The entire route, which corresponds exactly to the circumference of the mountain, takes about an hour and a half.

For safety reasons, it is advisable not to leave the marked path. In Caslano you can also visit several museums: the Fisheries Museum, the Chocolate Museum (Alprose) and the rich collection of cameras that belonged to Vincenzo Vicari.
