The Gießen City Theater on Gießen's Berliner Platz is a three-pronged building with a supra-regional appeal and one of six large subsidized theaters in Hesse. The free-standing classical, but partially influenced by the Art Nouveau building was built in 1907 by the architects Fellner & Helmer. It offers on two stages and a total of 652 (Big House) and 99 (taT) places a diverse repertoire of opera, musical and operetta, classical and contemporary plays as well as modern dance theater. Intendant is since the season 2002/03 Cathérine Miville.
