Until 1972, bread was baked in Hausener Bachmannstraße, after which the buildings stood empty for a while. In the early 1980s, a group of activists from the Frankfurt Sponti scene took the initiative and founded a cultural center. For example, the historic industrial building of the Hausener Brotfabrik is home to one of Frankfurt's oldest self-governing centers. Among other things, the association Kulturprojekt 21 organizes a broad program with concerts, club nights and numerous other events such as readings, discussions on social topics, lectures or film screenings. <Https://brotfabrik.de>

The bread factory at Bachmannstraße 4 was founded in 1888 under the management of Louis Lantz and Louis Hoffmann. After 1924 it merged with the Hausen bread factory, previously known as the flour and bread factory GmbH. The two companies brought in useful items such as machines, implements and horses that were essential to the continued existence of the factory. After the merger, the new company name was United Hausener Brotfabriken AG. At the factory's heyday in the 1930s, 90 bakers and servants were employed. The last pastry was baked on April 15, 1972. On October 10, 1973, the company was deleted from the commercial register.
