The Almschachten, which lies east of the Frauenau drinking water dam at an altitude of 1100 meters, is also called the Frauenauer Alm. Around 1900, this forest pasture was the only one that was used as an alpine pasture. That means that dairy cows spent the summer here, unlike on the other pits: only oxen or one-year-old young cattle were driven there. From the upper part of the Almschacht you have a wonderful view of the Zwieseler Winkel up to the Arber.
