Poppice (Popice u Znojma) is located 284 m above sea level. It is designed as a street village. Neighboring towns are German Konitz (Konice) in the north and Kaidling (Havraníky) in the south. Znojmo (Znojmo) is just a few kilometers northeast. To the west, the wooded area of the Thayatal and Narodní park Podyjí borders the village.

History:

Among the donated equipment for the monastery founded in 1190 Bruck as a place first mentioned in documents in 1337, came soon after "Popowicz" to the provost of the cross lords on the Pöltenberg, who held the rule until 1848.

Since 1500 a separate parish has been found. In 1509, the crusaders gave the peasants 350 ha of hut pasture as a free-lance. This marks the beginning of extensive sheep farming ("Poppitzer sheep"). 1574 was issued by the Order General a municipal code in German. In the Thirty Years' War Poppitz was again badly damaged and 1680 it was extinct by the plague to a few inhabitants.
