Šatov was mentioned for the first time in 1201. Since 1338 the place is called "Schattau". In 1373 Margrave Johann of Moravia allowed the place to hold an eight-day fair. The market survey took place on July 29, 1497 by King Wladislaus. The market rights and privileges were the Roman-German King and later Emperor Ferdinand I (1531), Emperor Charles VI. (1727) and Maria Theresa (1747) confirmed again. Already from the year 1586 a schoolmaster is called in Schattau. In 1601 Emperor Rudolf II allowed another fair. Likewise, the place had the right to its own jurisdiction, to which the gallows on the Galgenberg in the south belonged. Since the 16th century Schattau belonged to the rule Frain (Frain), later the place came to rule Joslowitz. A small part of the place later came under the rule of the monastery Bruck, until its dissolution under Joseph II. 1609 the place was sold to Wolf Dietrich von Althan. After his death his wife Katharina born. Kraig the rule. Already in this time Schattau was known for its good wine. Matriken are managed since 1637. Online search via the Provincial Archives Brno. [9] In 1677 the plague raged in the village and cost the life of 80 shadows. One year later, 178 inhabitants of the village went on a pilgrimage to Mariazell. The ship sank and only 2 people were able to save themselves. During the First Silesian War in 1742, the town was occupied for two days by 600 Prussian soldiers. In the years 1766 and 1767 large fires raged in the village, which destroyed 122 or 147 houses. Around 1787 a two-class school is built in the village.

The Šatov Church was first mentioned in 1200. Today's Sankt Martin parish church was built in 1656 on the site of the original building that was destroyed by fire. Later, in 1851, the adjoining tower was also rebuilt. Even the rectory got its current shape after a fire in the early 1770s. The church also has a bone house, which was restored between 1898-1899. This is today's Heilige Graben chapel. Three altars have been set up inside the church: the main altar in honor of Saint Martin, the side altars in memory of Saint John of Nepumuk, and in memory of the Virgin Mary Immaculate Conception. In the 1970s, major reconstruction work was carried out with the help of volunteers. In recent times the restoration of the Church has gradually begun, with significant help from the faithful and the community.
